The basics
Iron-on transfer paper and iron-on stickers have a decades-long history. The earlier, simpler types sold by paper shops, which could be transferred with a regular iron were only suitable for limited production at a hobby level. The latest transfer papers and printers though bring you fantastic solutions! If your goal is low-volume, creative and unique T-Shirt printing, then this system will be the most optimal choice for you!
The common feature of transfer papers is that after printing, the print must be ironed from the carrier paper to the surface of the T-Shirt – or other textile product – in a heat press. The result is a durable, machine-washable, brightly colored print.
| Are irons also suitable? No! You could iron on smaller emblems or texts with a regular iron you have at home, but their quality won't be consisent, the print won't be durable. Only a heat-press could provide the proper heat- and pressure distribution for a durable outcome. |
2012 – when OKI and FOREVER have changed everyting
The world's first desktop laser printer with white toner and transfer paper system debuted in 2012 in our country for the first time, which expanded the possibilities of transfer printing technology. The OKI LED printer that appeared at the time contained not only colors, but also white, with which printing was now available on both colored and black surfaces. The special white toner printer was complemented by FOREVER's new No-Cut transfer paper, which, as a unique novelty, enabled design printing without a background. Only the printed surface of the paper was transferred to the t-shirt, without the need for background removal (cutting and weeding). In addition, it made transfer printing possible on solid and colored objects (mugs, bags, advertising items) as well.

Color laser printer with compatible transfer papers

OKI white toner printer with compatible transfer papers

This is the cheapest solution. You should know that there is no white toner in regular desktop color laser printers, so you will not be able to use the advantages of white printing with this method. You could still print on colored or black T-Shirts, but since there is no white toner, you will have to print on a thicker type of transfer paper, which does not have automatic background removal. The surface of the printed t-shirt will also be thicker because a thick film covers the surface of the colored t-shirt instead of a flexible white paint, to make the printed colors visible. |

OKI's 8432WT model contains 4 toners: 3 colors and white. It is important to mention that black is created out of the 3 colors, which results in a properly black color, but not 100% perfect printing black (this is not a problem in 99% of creative T-Shirt printing!), and the printing of black color is therefore less economical. With the white toner system, your possibilities are widened and your creativity can flow! You can iron No-Cut transfer papers without a background on colored textiles or even print on a colored metal, glass or wooden promotional object with proper transferpaper and heat press. |
UNINET white toner printer with 5 toners and compatible transfer papers
After OKI, several manufacturers tried to produce similar white toner printers, but to this day UNINET's new printer is the most versatile solution. This made it the most popular white toner printer today. UNINET iColor also contains white toner, so it is also a great solution for printing on T-Shirts with a white underprint and without a background, even on colored and black textiles. The possibilities of iColor do not end there! You can buy additional special toners, a sublimation toner set, with which sublimation transfer printing is also possible, as well as fluorescent toners for unique spectacular neon colors. The toners can be easily replaced according to your current needs. What's more, unlike OKI, you also get black toner, with which you can replace the white one, so you can even use it as a normal desktop printer for printing photos or documents.
That's not all! Another advantage of the Uninet iColor white toner printer is that he price of the printer includes printer control RIP software as well, which would cost a lot more if purchased separately! (In contrast: a RIP software is not included with an OKI printer). Heat presses for transferpapers
Besides the printer and transfer paper, you will need a heat press as well. Our entry-level BASIC heat presses are suitable for most purposes, but you should keep in mind that No-Cut papers require excellent heat-distribution in order for the print to be perfect. Therefore, if you are planning to print on colored T-Shirts and products with a white-toner printer, we recomment you our SD-PRO heat presses or GALAXY heat presses.
